Parse this, Mr. Attorney General Designate

from Boston Dot Com:

The Justice Department has published a revised and expansive definition of acts that constitute torture under domestic and international law, overtly repudiating one of the most criticized policy memorandums drafted during President Bush's first term.

In a statement published on the department's website late Thursday, the head of its Office of Legal Counsel declares that ''torture is abhorrent both to American law and values and international norms."

...The new memo's public release came a week before the start of Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Gonzales's nomination.

Gee, do you think the timing of this release has anything to do with the confirmation hearings for the Bushministration's legal wordsmith? Hey Alberto, not to worry. We Democrats promise your hearing will only consist of "mere physical suffering and lasting mental anguish."

How telling the scandals of the two Presidents have been. Clinton parsed the meaning of "sex" while Bush parses "torture." Weigh in with your clever punch line. Winners will receive a complimentary rant on this blog on the topic of their choosing.
